Julie Horn

Julie is the visual arts director for the Maine Arts Commission and manages the State’s Percent For Art program. She relocated to Augusta after working six years as the Director for Visual Arts, Craft, Media & Design at the Tennessee Arts Commission. Her education includes a BFA in painting from the University of Arizona and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her professional work experience includes college instructor and adjudicator for grants for Louisiana and Tennessee. She is a published writer of art criticism for Numbers Inc., Art Papers and the Nashville Scene. She has a certification in Nonprofit Leadership & Management and an invited speaker at several conferences including the North Carolina Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, Black Mountain College and the Cape Brenton Center for Craft and Design in Nova Scotia. She serves as a member of the Maine/New Brunswick Cultural Task Force and is a graduate from Maine’s Institute for Civic Leadership Program. Julie is active in her own community as a member of the city’s Arts and Culture Council, Hallowell’s Comprehensive Planning Board and board member of Vision Hallowell.
