Marc Thayer

Marc Thayer joined Symphony NH as Executive Director in July 2016 and was appointed to the Nashua Arts Commission. Marc added the position of Executive Director of the Monteux School and Music Festival in Hancock, Maine, in 2018.  Previously he was the Deputy Director of the Association of American Voices (AV), a cultural diplomacy NGO with whom he has worked in over 40 countries in the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America and the South Pacific. Marc taught for ten summers at the American Arts Festival in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, Beirut and Bangkok, and served as Cultural Envoy for the US Department of State in Liberia in 2014 and 2015. 

From 2002-2011 Marc worked as the Vice President for Education and Community Partnerships with the St. Louis Symphony and was the Director of Strings at Washington University in St. Louis.  From 2004-2016 he performed as violinist with the Kingsbury Baroque Ensemble and taught at the Community Music School of Webster University.    Marc performed as a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL from 1995-1998 and founded their Education and Community Engagement Programs.

Marc has performed with orchestras across the United States and Europe and received Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the Eastman School of Music.

Marc is on the Board of Arts for NH and is the New Hampshire coordinator for Americans for the Arts.

Favorite Art Form: Combined Instrumental, Vocal Music, and Performing Arts
