Helen Shaw is the theater critic for New York magazine and its culture vertical Vulture. She has also written theater criticism for Time Out New York (for 15 years), 4Columns.org, Artforum, The New York Sun, Art in America, BOMB magazine and The Village Voice. She has also written for TheatreForum, American Theatre magazine, The New York Times Book Review, The Guardian, and The New York Times. She has been a two-time Drama Desk nominator, a two-time Obie judge, and a four-time Lucille Lortel nominator/voter; she is currently a Tony voter, a member of the Hewes Design Award committee, and a member of the New York Drama Critics Circle. She was awarded the 2017-2018 George Jean Nathan Award for theater criticism.
